To mark the 50th anniversary of legendary rock band KARAT, we reimagined the entire visual identity for their album “Hohe Himmel” – from the initial concept to the final rollout across all media channels.
Our aim was to create more than just an album cover: we wanted to design something iconic – a tribute to the band’s legacy, rooted in the visual language of classic rock albums. Timeless rather than trendy, the design pays homage to the golden era of the ’70s and ’80s through elegant color schemes and floral elements. At its heart lies a powerful visual symbol: the eye – inspired by the album’s central lyric, “Hohe Himmel öffnen die Augen” („High skies open the eyes“). This motif became the red thread running through the entire visual campaign.
The project encompassed vinyl and CD design, an extensive merch collection, digital and physical communication tools, as well as stage and tour visuals – all unified by a consistent and distinctive look. Three of the band’s most iconic songs were also reinterpreted visually and released as limited edition poster and card artwork.
A project that doesn’t just celebrate five decades of music history – but gives it a bold new visual voice.
